Augmentative Alternative Communication

To conduct a free flowing conversation without over reliance on the keyboard, the User can pre-program a variety of phrases, categorize them and have them ready for use when in a call. This will speed up the dialog and make the experience more satisfying for both the user and the person you have called.

Creating “My Phrases” Categories

Assistive Technology

In the “Phrases” panel click on the ‘Create Category’ button, enter the text to label the category e.g. My Details or Bank. This is to group the phrases you would typically use when engaged in a certain type of call. To edit or delete, highlight the Category box and click on the Edit or Delete button.

You can create a maximum of 12 categories.

Adding New Phrases

Type the text you would like to use in the lower box and when you are happy with it, click on the ‘Add’ button. It will then be added to the category. You should now click on the preview button to hear the phrase.

Editing Phrases

By changing the spelling of a name or using punctuation, you can change how the phrase sounds. By clicking on the text in the list, you can edit and preview again until you are happy with the way it sounds.

When you are finished, don’t forget to click on the ‘save’ button before you exit the phrases tab.

Previewing Audio

Phrases can be previewed at any time selecting the category on the My Phrases tab, and clicking on the ‘Edit’ button and then clicking on the Preview button. Remember punctuation can make a phrase sound more natural, (See: Tips & Tricks)

Ordering your Phrases

The 1st three categories on you’re My Phrases tab will be assigned to the Call tab for use when you make a call.

Disability Aid

You can choose the order in which they appear by dragging and dropping the phrase categories. (Grab the box below the box label and place over the category you want to replace)
